Ghosted

I can remember when the walls rose

I can remember the sound that the door made when we closed it for good

An old beater beyond repair, we never even allowed for a moment to look under the hood

Then the winter broke

And we finally spoke

In a language only we could speak together

While the smoke had lifted

Our minds down shifted

Knowing we were done forever (but)

You had them saying that I ghosted you

Never mentioned how you ghosted me

You neglect I gave the most to you

At a time when I could hardly breathe

We rejected love whenever we’d meet

Our rejection was a two-way street

Yours in action shown externally

Mine, projection held internally

Half a decade passed in a blink

And the ice rink I built in my heart is now a pool

I’m no fool, I didn’t rush right in

I learned to keep my calm and my cool

Then the autumn came

And I learned her name

From an ancient tale inscribed by ink and feather

While the smoke had lifted

Our hearts both shifted

Knowing we were meant forever (so)

She will never say I ghosted her

And I will never see her ghosting me

I’ll let her light in like the aperture

Of the camera lens that proves that we

Have accepted love whenever we meet

We know acceptance is a two-way street

Ours a message held eternally

‘Cause we’re committed for eternity
