Fade In

I was the nice guy for so long

Playing the right side, on the safe side

Of the sidewalk; separate, strong

I was the 5’7” matador

Of calves who never ran before

Who never sought to stand out

But could not stand that much anymore

But running on a mill and run-of-the-mill would never fulfill

The promises I made when I was 18

I grew my hair out
I burned a bridge, or four, or hundreds, or more

Upheaved the core of my whole being

Volunteered my own undoing

To prove a point; to pop the graduate sore

I couldn’t cope with the idea that I’d never get to see the

Best face on me before I leave

And self-implant some self esteem

When 2k acres ain’t enough, I won’t be caged in!

Unafraid

With Smooth and Style, I’ll gladly Fade away

I couldn’t cope with the idea that I’d never get to see the

Best face on me before I leave

And self-implant some self esteem

When 2k acres ain’t enough, I won’t be caged in!

Unafraid

With Smooth and Style, I’ll gladly Fade away

Fade away

Fade away
